I am a singer, pianist, and general music educator based in Brooklyn, New York, where I work as a teacher at an award-winning music studio. Having graduated summa cum laude in 2017 with a degree in Music Education: Voice from West Chester University of Pennsylvania (WCU), I have studied various methods and approaches to illustrating musical concepts including music theory, music history, ear training, and applied lessons in voice and all major instruments. I work with students of all ages -- children and adults -- and teach ALL styles of singing! Anybody has the ability to sing! If you can speak, you CAN sing! Piano lessons focus on hand/wrist health, proper technique, exploring a love of music, how music works, different musical types and genres, why things work together they way they do, and composing music if interested. We individualize lessons and work with students as a team to reach goals they set for themselves. We encourage students to select additional pieces that they’d like to learn, teaching technique and skill while working on fun songs, too. We simply go at whatever pace is comfortable for you and go step by step together. We often upload audio/video to help during practice and are available between lessons to answer questions.

Welcome, this class can be taken as an introduction to or expert refinement of aural skills. Students will learn to achieve fluency with the basic materials of tonal music and develop the practical aural skills expected of every professional musician. These include a proficiency in sight singing and dictation, an immediate recognition of musical idioms, an ability to communicate musical ideas with the voice, proficiency in executing a variety of basic rhythmic and metric concepts and the continued development of musical memory. Mark has over 15 years of education in performance, theory, and composition. He has been mixing, engineering, and producing music since 2002. These lessons are for young and/or inexperienced singers. My lesson plans are tailored towards students' individual goals. For some, this may be learning and embodying an audition song for their school's upcoming theater performance, and for others voice lessons are a first step towards singing healthily in their church choir. In any case, I focus on correcting and building core skills necessary to singing one's best while encouraging and fostering creativity, accountability, and motivation. If considered for a long-term journey towards singing, I will focus particularly on classical techniques to build steady breath control, good posture, and proper vowel and consonant formation. Along with providing repertoire, if the student is ready and wants, there will be opportunities for vocal performance in the Santa Cruz area. I will encourage audio recordings in all lessons to help with future preparations. I will be assigning some homework after every lesson, likely a combination of vocalization exercises, dedicated sheet music practice, and theory homework (if needed). *My first lesson will involve getting to know the student, their goals, and some vocalization to assess vocal level. For singers with minimal/no prior foundational music theory knowledge, I may recommend time from lessons (15-30 minutes) being allocated solely towards foundational music theory learning.

Hi, my name is Luis, and I play acoustic and electric guitar. I have been a music teacher for twenty-five years. My musical influences encompass a diverse range, including classical music, jazz, blues, progressive rock, traditional Latin American music, and more. I mainly teach acoustic and popular guitar with classical technique. I also teach electric guitar, Solfege, music Theory, and Music Composition.
