[ABOUT ME] I’m Ryota, a native Japanese speaker living in Mitaka, Tokyo, and I’m here to help you learn Japanese in a fun and practical way. With strong English skills and a deep understanding of what it’s like to learn a second language, I can guide you through the tricky parts and make the process smoother. [ABOUT THE SESSIONS] Our sessions are going to be tailored to your particular goals and interests. If you’re a beginner, we’ll start with easy conversations or watching and discussing videos in Japanese. That way I can help you get used to the rhythm and flow of Japanese. If you’re a more advanced learner, perhaps preparing for the JLPT, we can review past exams together and focus on polishing your grammar and vocabulary to get you ready. I’m also well-versed in Japanese traditions and culture—including anime and manga—so we can easily incorporate those into our lessons if they interest you. And if you’ve recently moved to Japan or are planning to, I can share insights and practical tips to help you navigate life here. (I’ve got plenty of expat friends and know the drill!) Originally trained as an HVAC engineer with the intention of continuing my father’s legacy, I transitioned into teaching during the pandemic after discovering my passion for language education. This shift allowed me to embrace remote work while connecting with learners globally. We approach vocabulary, grammar, conversation and listening in a progressive and interactive way. Are you a beginner? No worries, we will work from the basics using French or English to help you. If you already have some knowledge, we will choose together the grammar points on which you will focus to progress effectively :) 🍡 Advanced Reading and Listening For learners who already have a solid foundation, these courses help strengthen your reading and listening skills. If you have texts or content that you would like to explore, we will use them in class. Otherwise, I will provide you with resources adapted to your level and interests! 🍡 JLPT exam preparation Prepare effectively for the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test), a recognized exam that validates your level of Japanese. Whether it's to boost your chances for studies, a job or simply to challenge yourself, my courses will guide you with targeted exercises and strategies adapted to your level. In the first lesson, we will discuss in Japanese/French/English to assess your level of Japanese, your expectations for the Japanese course, as well as the books we will use. Each one-hour lesson takes place online or at my home in Prilly. Organize your classes at your own pace: once a week, every two weeks, or even in intensive sessions lasting several hours!
