I offer one-to-one Programming tuition in Python, C, and C++, for GCSE Computer Science, A-Level Computing, and university students studying engineering, computer science, or related subjects. Lessons are available online or in person around Birmingham. What I cover: Python for beginners and intermediate learners C and C++ programming GCSE and A-Level Computer Science (all exam boards) University coursework support, debugging help, and project guidance Core concepts: variables, loops, functions, data structures, object-oriented programming, file handling, basic algorithms How I teach: I start by understanding exactly where you are — whether that's "I've never coded before" or "I'm stuck on a specific assignment." Then I build lessons around small, practical examples you can actually run and modify yourself. I'm patient with errors (everyone gets them), and I make sure you understand the why behind the code, not just how to copy it. For university students, I can also help with debugging, code reviews, and explaining tricky concepts in plain English. If you or your child is preparing for exams, working on coursework, or just wants to finally feel comfortable with coding, I'd love to help.

As a PhD researcher in political theory, with a BA in History and Politics and an MA in political theory, and classroom experience teaching English as a Foreign Language as part of a summer camp for international students. I aim to help students develop their voices healthy while nurturing their passion for music. Although not everyone has an excellent singing gift, I believe that everyone can be an excellent performer on their own stage. I will teach students following their aptitude and will not be too harsh on students. However, I will treat every student fairly and will not leave anyone behind. I will set goals for students based on their level and have certain requirements. I hope that students can be happy in the learning process, truly master knowledge, and share music's truth, goodness, and beauty! I am glad that many of my students have achieved good results in examinations, including ABRSM and Trinity College London Grades and Diploma exams, and winning prizes in competitions, including Holmfirth Musical Festival, Newcastle-U-Lyme Festival of Music, Leamington Spa Competitive Festival, Hounslow Festival of Music, Longwell Green & Kingswood Performing Arts Festival, Coulsdon and Purley Festival, Basingstoke Music Festival, and more. I consider myself to be a wide-ranging opera and concert soloist. Passionate about opera, I have sung more than 30 operatic roles and performed for opera companies in Asia and Europe in many major theatres and festivals, including Opera Hong Kong, Musica Viva, Winslow Hall Opera, OperaUpClose, Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival, Passaggio Oper, Opéra de Baugé and more. My operatic roles include Macbeth(Macbeth), Tonio(Pagliacci) and Escamillo(Carmen), among many others. On the concert platform, my past engagements include Haydn's Nelson Mas(Really Big Chorus/Hong Kong Police Choir), J.S. Bach's Magnificat in D Major(Hong Kong Oratorio Society/Village Voices UK), Felix Mendelssohn's Die erste Walpurgisnacht(Hong Kong Oratorio Society), Handel's Messiah(Hong Kong SingFest), Faure's Requiem(Chesterfield Co-operative Choral Society), Brahms's Ein deutsches Requiem(The Guild Consort Choir). I received a postgraduate certificate from Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, Hungary, and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where I was awarded the St Clare Barfield Memorial Bowl for Operatic Distinction. Prior to that, I gained my Bachelor of Music from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. I am also an experienced singing teacher for all ages. Besides teaching singing privately for more than 10 years, I was also a music tutor at Parkland Music Limited, Greenery Music & Arts Centre and Canon Music & Arts Centre in Hong Kong. In 2016, I have successfully organized "No Vocalists Allowed" opera workshop, and coached non-vocal major students to sing and perform an opera scenes concert at the New Lecture Theatre at Birmingham Conservatoire. I have also worked as an assistant vocal coach in K. Wah Opera Hong Kong summer school programme 2017, where I trained young performers to participate in Elf the Musical Jr production.

I have been teaching students of all ages and abilities for the past ten years. I began my teaching practice while pursuing a Bachelor of Music Performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dublin, inheriting students from my father (also a violin teacher) and later teaching the younger students of my violin professor. Following my studies in Ireland, I moved to the United Kingdom, where I obtained a Master of Music Performance from the Royal College of Music, London and an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, both with distinction. During my studies, I taught extensively across the London and Birmingham areas, both in person and online, taking one to one lessons and group ensembles. In my teaching, I follow the ABRSM grade system alongside a vast selection of relevant study books and pieces/sonati/concerti, individually tailored to the needs and requirements of each student, allowing an enjoyable, rewarding and worthwhile musical experience. As I work full time with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, teaching spaces are limited and a certain level of flexibility in scheduling may be required at times due to the changing nature of the orchestra's weekly timetable and touring schedule. Rafael is a professional jazz & classical saxophonist, composer, and arranger doubling on the clarinet and flute. With a musical career of over 15 years, he has performed both solo and in collaboration with various musical groups. These include his own bands, esteemed musical artists, cover bands, tribute bands and jazz/swing big bands. His performances have taken him to national and international music venues, festivals, and tours ranging on different styles of music. Having graduated from the Birmingham Conservatoire (BMus Hons Jazz Studies) and also completing the 8th Grade (ABRSM) on Classical Saxophone Rafael has long been enthusiastic about studying jazz and classical music on the saxophone. During all his formative years and most of his career he has enjoyed every opportunity to share his passion through music by being an inspiring, supportive and encouraging woodwind teacher. Over the last 8 years of private instruction experience Rafael has been working as a Woodwind Teacher (saxophone, flute, and clarinet) on both classical and jazz music. He believes in creating a friendly and professional atmosphere making sure that students feel supported on their individual musical journey, by giving them the knowledge necessary for reaching their personal aspirations. Rafael has helped many students of all levels and ages to make fast improvement. Rafael offers a wide range of experiences and is interested in focusing on ways to help each student achieve their maximum potential. Whatever your background, age group or level, whether you coming to instruction for the first time, returning after many years, continuing study after conservatory, preparing for exams or even on a professional path Rafael has enough knowledge. He’s able to adapt his instruction according to individual needs and preferences of each student by providing books, exercises and/or repertoire. In-person lessons usually take place at Rafael’s teaching studio or alternatively on student’s chosen location. Beginners Rafael understands that starting your journey on learning a new musical instrument can be difficult which is why he’s always a supportive and encouraging teacher towards new students. Beginner students don’t need to have any prior experience whatsoever when it comes to either playing or being able to read music. On the 1st lesson usually there’s no need to own an instrument as Rafael will provide everything necessary and guide each student on the basics of how to play the instrument they’re learning. By the end of the 1st lesson students are usually able to play a few notes on the instrument and have all the basic knowledge needed to start learning and begin their musical journey. To benefit from Rafael’s teaching, it’s recommended that student have their own instrument (Saxophone, Clarinet or Flute) although, Rafael has knowledge on available and affordable instrument hire services as well as provides guidance to all students on purchasing their first instrument
