Looking for a highly experienced tutor for Ancient Greek and/or Latin lessons? Then you've come to the right place! I'm a former economics teacher with a first-degree teaching qualification who, since 2021, has dedicated myself entirely to tutoring various subjects. I did this because it allows me to do what I love most: explaining material, building student confidence, and working together to improve grades. This way, I've helped around 200 students achieve passing grades or even pass their exams over the past few years. So, while I'm a former economics teacher, my language skills make me a great tutor in Greek and Latin if you're still in the lower grades. I'm especially good at translating, if I do say so myself. :) I got a 9 out of 10 in Greek in high school (pre-university education). I took Latin up to and including the fifth year of pre-university education (VWO) and then had to drop it because I had too many subjects. But the languages are very similar, so I can definitely help you with Latin as well. The structure of the tutoring is always determined in consultation, but generally, I'm a big fan of starting on assignments as soon as possible. Why? Because then I can quickly see what you can already do and what you're still struggling with. I help with that. This way, I avoid unnecessary explanations of things you already know. Moreover, you can then immediately apply the explanations you do need to an assignment. This way, the material sticks much better. By the way, if you prefer tutoring at home, but I live too far away, consider trying online tutoring. I'm very experienced in that. I always give online tutoring via Google Meet, using a digital whiteboard where I can draw, color, paste, and type. This way, I can explain/demonstrate everything perfectly. I then share everything I've written on the whiteboard with you via WhatsApp so you can review all the explanations and solutions at your leisure after the lesson. Super convenient! Finally, if I had to describe myself in a few words, they would be: knowledgeable, calm, reliable, approachable, committed and tidy.

PERCUSSION LESSONS: cuban, brazilian, cajon, drumsTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Hello everybody! Welcome to my profile! Have you always wanted to know more about rhythm, percussion and drums? Then you are in the right place! :) My name is Giovanni, I'm an italian percussionist currently living in The Netherlands and studying at Codarts music school in Rotterdam. Latin music is the field I explored and studied the most, especially music coming from Cuba and Brazil: two different and at the same time similar worlds that boast an incredible and extremely interesting music culture. Talking about Cuban music, my main instruments are congas, bongos and timbales, together with all small percussion (guiro, maracas, clave, shekere). I will guide you through the different music styles that developed in this wonderful island during the past 200 years, such as salsa, son, rumba, cha-cha-cha, mambo, songo among many others. About the Brazilian side, I can teach you how to learn to play the pandeiro, in all its different styles and rhythms, together with the timbau, the repique, the dobras, the surdo and many other instruments that belong to this amazing tradition. In my musical career, I also got to play and studied other types of percussion that belong to other traditions. To name one, the cajon, originally coming from Perù and later incorporated in spanish flamenco, is another fascinating instrument, and incredibly versatile when it comes to play many styles of music, especially western pop and funk music: it can really function as a substitute for the drums! Talking about drums, I will be happy to guide you through the study of this marvelous instrument as well, starting from the basic techniques until the study of all the rhythmic possibilities that this instrument gives. If you're interested, don't esitate to contact me! (more info below :) )

John is an excellent tutor. He goes through the material very carefully and explains every aspect in a clear and understandable way. In my case this was for the subject matter linguistics. John is also a fantastic creative writing tutor and was super helpful to me when I was writing my essays. He is someone who really cares about giving his students a quality lesson that they can benefit from and I cannot recommend him enough.

Serdane is a wonderful teacher. Although my daughter learnt French at school she was very unconfident. Serdane was very sympathetic and gave her interesting material to read, discuss and to learn in class. She also went back to the basics which my daughter had missed out on at school and eventually my daughter graduated with 8.8 in French at the European BAC!

Excellent teacher! First Latin class for my 12 year old daughter. Alessandro quickly understands the required level. Can adapt to wishes and needs. Strongly recommended! Thierry
